Sacramento,CA : Motorcyclist killed in early morning collision on Watt Avenue on August, Monday 7th 2017

A motorcyclist died Monday morning in a collision in the Arden Arcade area.

The crash was reported at 6:27 a.m. on Watt Avenue, south of Arden Way. A vehicle was making a U-turn from northbound Watt Avenue to southbound Watt at Hyde Way as a motorcycle was traveling southbound at 45 to 55 mph, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The motorcyclist abruptly applied the brakes and lost control of the motorcycle, which overturned onto its left side, according to the CHP report. The rider hit the roadway and both the rider and the motorcycle slid into the back of the vehicle, which was completing the U-turn.

The CHP said witnesses stopped to render aid until Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District personnel arrived. The motorcyclist, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.


The cause of the collision is under investigation. The CHP said neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have been factors in the crash.
