Gastonia, NC : Woman died, infant and two others injured in two-car crash in Gaston County on Monday afternoon, Aug 24, 2015

A woman was killed and 3 others, including an infant, were injured in a car accident at the intersection of W. Garrison Blvd. and Vance Street in Gastonia Monday afternoon.

The two-car crash happened around 1 p.m.

Samantha Kay Thomas, 34, was driving a 1993 Honda Civic when her vehicle and a 2006 Cadillac STS collided.

Thomas and the driver of the Cadillac, Julius Dalpiaz, 83, were both taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. An 11-month-old child and a 61-year-old man who were in Thomas' Honda were also taken to the hospital, but their condition has not been released.

Thomas was pronounced deceased at the hospital a short time later.

The possible cause of the accident has not been released, but police say it is under investigation.

No charges have been filed.
