WARREN COUNTY, IA : 2 teens remain in ICU following head-on collision on Saturday, 24th September 2016
Two teenagers are in the intensive care unit Sunday night after a collision in Warren County this weekend, a Mercy Medical Center spokesperson said.The crash happened around 2:40 p.m. Saturday on Highway 65/69 and McGregor Street, just south of Indianola.
State patrol officials said a southbound vehicle, driven by Austin Kartchner, 17, of Osceola, tried to turn onto McGregor Street when it crossed the center line and swerved to avoid a crash.
But in the process, it hit a northbound car, driven by Adam Richman, 21, of Urbandale, head-on. Both vehicles came to rest on the bridge in the northbound lane.
Richman was treated and released at the scene.
Kartchner was flown to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines and is in critical condition. His passenger, Kodi Shuff, 16, of Osceola, was also taken to Mercy Medical Center and remains in serious condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
