Greensburg, LA : Amite teen died after tractor rolled off a wooden bridge on Highway 43, south of Greensburg on Tuesday, June 23, 2015

An Amite teen who was cutting grass on a relative’s property died Tuesday after his tractor rolled off a wooden bridge and landed atop him in a ditch.

Zachary R. Henry, 17, was driving over a narrow wooden bridge at 6844 La. 43, south of Greensburg, when the tractor got too close to the side of the bridge and broke the planks, said Detective Lee Carmona, of the St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The tractor rolled off the bridge and landed in the ditch, on top of Henry, Carmona said.

Henry was pronounced dead at the scene.
