Harlingen, TX : Local man dies in car crash on October 3, 2016

A 32-year-old Harlingen man was killed yesterday afternoon when his car was hit broadside by another car in downtown.
His name was not immediately released. The driver of the other car was taken to a hospital with injuries.
The 32-year-old man was driving east on Van Buren Avenue in a Ford Taurus when he was hit by a Mazda sedan southbound on 3rd Street, police said.
The Mazda was traveling so fast that the Taurus was pushed sideways about 50 feet past the intersection down 3rd Street, police said.
“To be pushed that far sideways, that’s a high rate of speed,” Officer Larry Moore said at the scene.
The driver of the Mazda was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries. His condition was not immediately available.
