Centerville,OH: Families mourn the loss of 2 men killed in wrong-way crash on October, Monday 9th 2017
Police are still investigating what happened in a wrong way crash on the highway Monday night.
The Montgomery County Coroner has identified the victims in a deadly crash in Centerville as 18-year-old Kalip Grimm and 69-year-old Melvin Bonie.
This is one of the calls made to 911 by witnesses of the accident.
“He drove right past me. I looked right at him. He had this look on his face like…this is it,” said Richard Newland.
According to Centerville Police Information Police Officer John Davis, as the investigation stands Bonie was driving the wrong way and hit two other cars on Interstate 675 before the fatal crash.
It happened around 9:30 p.m. on Monday on I-675 in Centerville, near the Wilmington Pike exit.
Police received calls just moments apart about a vehicle going the wrong way on I-675, before more calls came in about a serious crash.
Police say a car was going the wrong way on I-675. The car grazed 2 vehicles, before hitting another vehicle head-on.
The driver of the car going wrong way, and the driver of the vehicle that was hit head-on were both killed.
Grimm had a passenger in his car. The female is currently recovering from her injuries according to a message sent to our newsroom.
The southbound lanes of I-675 were closed for several hours after the crash. All lanes reopened just after 3 a.m. on Tuesday.
Police are still interviewing witnesses from the wrong way crash.
