Richmond County, GA : One dead following crash in Augusta on Wednesday, 14th November 2018

One woman has died following a crash in Richmond County on Wednesday afternoon.

Richmond County coroner Mark Bowen said a 33-year-old woman was driving a Toyota Tacoma north on Georgetown Drive. While attempting to pass a vehicle, the Tacoma was struck head on by a southbound vehicle.

The incident was called in to emergency officials at 4:55 p.m., and the woman was transported to AU Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 5:47 p.m. The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, will be sent to the GBI Lab in Atlanta for an autopsy.

The identity of the woman will not be released until next of kin has been notified.
