Vernonia, OR : Two people are killed in fiery fatal crash at Highway 47 On Wednesday, July 13th, 2016
A fiery-fatal crash closed Highway 47 Wednesday afternoon for five hours.
Banks Fire officials say it appears two Ford trucks hit head-on near milepost 69, just a few miles south of Vernonia just before 3:30 p.m.
Officials say both drivers died at the scene.
Still no word from ODOT about what caused the crash.
Jan Bachman lives just down the road from the crash. She says people drive way too fast on that stretch of road.
"It's really dangerous, you see wrecks constantly," said Bachman.
Bob Stringfield lives about 500 yards from the crash and heard it.
"I knew something was destroyed. It was loud. You could tell it was a car hitting a tree or two cars hitting," said Stringfield.
