Lumberton Township, NJ : 24-year-old man killed after motorcycle crashes into car on Route 38 in the township on Monday night, June 13, 2016

A 24-year-old man was killed Monday night after his motorcycle crashed into a vehicle on Route 38 in the township, according to authorities.

Police said Shawn Kennedy, of Southampton, was riding a motorcycle on the major roadway near Always Drive when he collided with a vehicle driven by 57-year-old Priscilla Merritt from Waldorf, Maryland.

Kennedy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police shut down the highway from Savory Way to Smithville roads as officers investigated the crash. While the investigation continues, speed is believed to have played a role. No charges have been filed.
