Longmont,CO : Longmont woman killed in 2-vehicle crash on Colo. 66 on September, Saturday 16th 2017
A two-vehicle crash on Colo. 66 west of Longmont on Saturday morning left one person dead and shut the road down for more than four hours.
Colorado State Trooper Chris Simpson said that a 50-year-old Longmont woman was pronounced dead at Longmont United Hospital shortly after 11:15 a.m. on Saturday following the crash on Colo. 66 near West 66th Street.
Simpson said that the woman, whose name has not been released, was westbound on Colo. 66 in a 2005 Toyota Prius at about 10:30 a.m. when an eastbound 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Clay Gagnon veered into the westbound lane and struck the Prius.
Gagnon, 29, of Englewood, was taken to Boulder Community Health's Foothills Hospital with minor injuries, Simpson said.
He said Gagnon has not been ticketed, and the crash remains under investigation. Speed, drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash. He added that the Boulder County Coroner's Office will release the woman's name at a later date.
