Fort Myers, FL : Driver on way to hospital causes 3 car crash on Thursday, December 25, 2014

Troopers say 17-year-old attempting to reach the hospital to take one of his passengers for treatment Christmas evening about 9:30 crashed into stopped cars.

Two vehicles were stopped at US 41 north of Daniels Parkway when the teen approached the intersection. The traffic light switched from red to green and his vehicle failed to slow down in time to account for the two stopped cars to accelerate.

The end result, according to the FHP, was the teen's vehicle hit the rear of one car and it collided with the car in front of it.

No injuries were reported in the crash. The Florida Highway Patrol was unable to identify the injury of the teen's passenger prior to the crash or if the injuries were intensified by the crash.

The 17-year-old was identified as Jacob Bay of Fort Myers. He was charged with careless driving.
