Montana City, MT :Two people taken to hospital after I-15 crash in Montana City on Tuesday, July 7th 2015

A rollover crash on I-15 on Tuesday morning near the Montana City exit sent an adult and an 8-year-old child to the hospital.Montana Highway Patrol Sergeant Jay Nelson says it happened as the driver of a sedan was passing another vehicle while coming over a small hill just before. Just over the hill, an aluminum ladder that had just come off another vehicle was lying in the road across both lanes of traffic. The driver was unable to avoid the ladder and was sent rolling into the median.
Sgt. Nelson says the occupants were wearing their seatbelts and that had a big impact on the outcome of this crash. “This is a perfect example, especially this time of year, to wear your seatbelt. These individuals were in a fairly violent rollover and had very minor injuries due to their seatbelt use. So definitely, seatbelts save lives,” says Nelson. He says the driver of the vehicle that was transporting the ladder had pulled over to the side of the road in an attempt to retrieve it. That driver will be cited for not having the item secured properly. The nature and severity of the injuries sustained by the two people taken to the hospital has not been released.
