Police say a woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle in Henrico County.

Police said in a statement that officials were called Saturday afternoon to Brook Road near New York Avenue for an accident involving a female pedestrian and a vehicle. Police say a driver called police after striking the woman on Brook Road and that the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified the pedestrian as 38-year-old Wendi R. Mayhew of Mechanicsville. Police did not say in their statement if Mayhew was in a crosswalk when she was hit.
