Jacksonville, FL : Pedestrian killed in crash near Mayport Village on Saturday evening, March 25, 2017

A man died from his injuries after being run over by a woman driving an SUV in what police are calling an accident, according to Times-Union news partner First Coast News.

The crash happened Saturday evening in the area of the Mayport Village along A1A, in northeast Duval County.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a man was in the roadway when the driver of a white Chevrolet Suburban hit the pedestrian.

The unidentified man was transported to a local hospital where he later died, First Coast News reported.

The driver is said to be cooperating with the investigation.

Investigators at the scene told First Coast News that there appears to be no connection between the driver and the pedestrian.

It is not known why the victim was on the road.
