Little Rock,AR : Two crashes in state kill two minors on November, Friday 10th 2017
Two minors were killed early Friday in separate crashes, according to preliminary reports from the Arkansas State Police said.
And Little Rock police have released the name of a person who died in an accident earlier in the week.
The first crash early Friday in which a minor died happened about 1:25 a.m. at the Old Military Road exit on Interstate 30 in Benton after a westbound 2003 Suzuki passenger vehicle left the interstate, according to a report.
State police said the vehicle then struck a guardrail and overturned, fatally injuring a minor who was a passenger. The minor’s name and age weren’t released. No one else was listed as being hurt.
Shortly before 2 a.m., another minor, who also wasn’t identified, was headed east on Bear Hollow Road through Fort Smith in a 1998 GMC Sierra, state police reported.
Near the street’s 8500 block, the pickup reportedly veered off the road. The driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to roll over and eject him, state police said.
He later died at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, according to the report.
The weather was clear and roads were dry at the time of both crashes.
In the accident that occurred earlier in the week, police identified the person who died in a wreck in Little Rock as Joshua Barbee of North Little Rock.
The crash happened about 2:50 p.m. Wednesday in the 7000 block of Arch Street, south of the road’s intersection with West 65th Street.
A witness driving north on the road reported seeing a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria approach him from behind at a “high rate of speed,” according to a Little Rock Police Department report released Friday.
The Ford’s driver, 35-year-old Miranda Duncan of North Little Rock, later passed him on a double yellow line into a curve, the witness said.
At that point, Duncan’s car traveled off the road and struck a concrete culvert before traveling into a wooded area, striking a large tree and coming to rest on its passenger side, according to police.
Barbee, a passenger inside the car, was found dead at the scene, the report stated.
Duncan was ejected from the vehicle and transported to UAMS Medical Center in critical condition. Her condition as of Friday morning was not immediately clear.
Results of an alcohol test are pending and an investigation is ongoing.
Travel conditions were described as rainy and cloudy.
