Roseville ,MN : 41- Years old Alfie Fitzgerald Foster seriously injured after his truck crashed into a signpost on Wednesday ,May 27th 2015

A Blaine man is in serious condition at Hennepin County Medical Center after the semitrailer he was driving crashed into a signpost Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 35W in Roseville.

Alfie Fitzgerald Foster, 41, was badly burned when his truck exploded after the crash, according to a man who pulled him to safety.

The accident happened about 2:20 p.m. when the semi swerved, possibly while trying to avoid another vehicle, lost control and struck the County Road C exit sign, according to Lt. Tiffani Nielson of the Minnesota State Patrol.

The fire caused officials to close I-35W between Minnesota 36 and Ramsey County Road D for an hour. The southbound lanes, where the accident occurred, remained closed late into the evening.
