Kearney, NE : Multiple injured in I-80 accident east of Odessa Interchange on Saturday, July 22, 2017

Kearney Volunteer Fire Department rescue squads, Good Samaritan and Elm Creek emergency units, and the Air Care helicopter were dispatched just after 4 p.m. today (Saturday) to a multi-car, multi-injury accident in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 about a mile east of the Odessa Interchange.

At least two people were transported to Kearney hospitals by ambulance. The driver of an SUV was pinned in the vehicle, extracted by KVFD rescuers and transported to the hospital by Air Care.

Traffic was backed up for several miles in the eastbound lanes of I-80 and also south of Odessa and Elm Creek as motorists attempted to detour onto Highway 30.
