SPRINGFIELD, WV : Augusta man dies after chainsaw accident on Wednesday, 5th January 2022

An Augusta man performing tree work died Tuesday following an accident with a chainsaw near Springfield, according to the Hampshire County Sheriff's Office.
Zachariah Odom, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 11:54 a.m. accident in the 9000 block of Cumberland Road, the sheriff's office said.
According to a news release, the saw "kicked back" as Odom was cutting trees, striking him in the neck. A co-worker recognized the severity of Odom's injury and went for help.
"Although lifesaving measures were attempted by EMS, those efforts were ceased after a period of time," according to the sheriff's office.
