Wendell Woman Killed in Car Crash near Jerome; 2 Children Injured in Idaho
A 27-year-old Wendell woman died in a car crash this afternoon in Jerome County.Chasity Pearson of Wendell died in the two-vehicle crash, which also injured two children.At about 1:30 p.m. Pearson was driving a Chevrolet Suburban east on West Road, Idaho State Police said.For unknown reasons, Pearson drifted into the oncoming lane near the intersection of 350 West and West Road, said ISP Sgt. Mike Wendler.Pearson's Suburban struck a trailer being towed by a Dodge Ram. The driver of the Dodge, John Cutler, 39, of Wendell, tried to avoid Pearson’s vehicle but could not, Wendler said.Wendler said the truck and trailer rolled and Pearson’s vehicle came to a stop in the road.A 4-year-old girl riding in Pearson’s vehicle was taken by air ambulance to a Boise hospital. A 2-year-old boy who was also riding in Pearson’s vehicle was treated at St. Luke’s Jerome Medical Center and released, Wendler said.Wendler said he couldn’t confirm whether the children were related to Pearson.ISP is still investigating the cause of the crash, he said.The Jerome County Sheriff’s Office, Jerome police, Gooding County Sheriff’s Office, Jerome Fire Department, Air St. Luke’s and Magic Valley Paramedics also responded.
