Rapid City, S.D : N.D. woman dies in motorcycle crash near Rapid City on May 24, 2014

A North Dakota woman died Monday from injuries she received in a Saturday motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 16 near Strato Rim Drive.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol reports that Michelle R. Thomas, 44, of Belfield, N.D., was injured when a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Warren Thomas, 55, turned on its side and slid. Both riders were thrown from the motorcycle. Neither wore a helmet.

The Thomas motorcycle was traveling south on Strato Rim Drive with two other motorcycles when the two leading motorcycles slowed for a turn. Warren Thomas braked and the motorcycle crossed the fog line where it turned on its side.

Warren Thomas received minor injuries. Michelle Thomas was taken to Rapid City Regional Hospital where she died from her injuries.
