Columbus, Oh : 2 dead after Hebron crash on Saturday, 22nd October 2016
Two people are dead after a single-vehicle crash in Hebron, Kentucky Saturday night, according to police.
Rama Varahabhatla, 35, of Louisville, was traveling north on North Bend Road near River Road just after 10 p.m. when he failed to navigate the curve and veered off to the right side of the road, police said.
Police said Varahabhatla's car then became airborne, overturned and hit a tree nearby. Varahabhatla and his front passenger, 25-year-old Raja Sakar Reddy Yarmala, were both entrapped and freed by Hebron Fire/EMS.
The right rear passenger, Benkat Prashant Kommu, 27, was ejected from the vehicle. The left rear passenger, Anvesh Kumar, 24, was also entrapped and was freed by Hebron Fire/EMS, police said.
Police said Kommu died at the scene due to the collision and ejection. Yarmala was was airlifted to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center (UCMC) with life-threatening injuries and later died from those injuries at 1 a.m. on Oct. 23.
Kumar was taken to UCMC and Varahabhatla was taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital Florence and both are expected to survive, police said.
The Boone County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash and are still trying to determine the cause of the collision. No charges have been filed against the driver, but the driver is cooperating with the investigation.
