ANAHEIM, CA : 3 hurt when hit-and-run driver smashes truck into apartment on Thursday, March 30th 2017

Authorities are searching for the hit-and-run driver of a pickup that smashed through the wall of a Southern California apartment building, injuring three people sleeping inside.

Police in Anaheim say two women and a man were hospitalized with minor injuries following the crash around 3 a.m. Thursday.

Television news footage shows only the tail end of the black truck sticking out of the side of the building, with bricks and plaster crumbled all around.

Officials say a total of nine people in the first-floor apartment and an upstairs unit are displaced while inspectors determine whether the building is structurally sound.

Neighbors report seeing a man sprinting from the scene.

Police have not released a suspect description but say the truck has paper dealer plates.
