Marietta, GA : 59-year-old Austell pedestrian killed in wreck, police say on April, Monday 10th 2017

A 59-year-old Austell woman was killed after she was struck by a vehicle while walking down Floyd Road late Monday night, according to Cobb police.

Juana Vergara De Flores was on the sidewalk on the western edge of Floyd Road near Seminole Circle at about 8 p.m. Monday when a maroon 2013 Ford Explorer left the road and hit her, according to Officer Alicia Chilton, spokesperson for Cobb police.

She was taken to WellStar Cobb Hospital and pronounced dead from the injuries she sustained in the wreck, Chilton said.

The driver of the Explorer was not injured in the collision, Chilton said.

The wreck remains under investigation, and charges are expected to be filed, Chilton said.
