A Maryville woman suffered serious injuries after a two-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu operated by 37-year-old Allison Gresham was traveling southbound on US Highway 71 behind a 1991 Peterbilt tractor-trailer. The report noted that Gresham didn’t notice the truck in front of her, which caused her to collide with the attached trailer.
The truck, operated by 74-year-old James L. Linville of Graham, continued southbound dragging the Malibu behind it before coming to a stop just south of Route A.
Gresham was transported by Nodaway County Ambulance to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph with serious injuries. The Malibu she drove was totaled in the accident and towed from the scene by Walker’s Body Shop in Maryville.
Linville suffered no injuries, but his truck did have moderate damage done. Linville drove the truck from the scene.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Troopers J. D. Farmer and Corporal S. E. Pritzel were assisted at the scene by the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office, Nodaway County EMS, and Maryville Public Safety Police and Fire Divisions.
Southbound traffic was briefly redirected around the accident via 355th Street, Ideal Road, and 370th Street before the right lane was opened.
