Columbus, OH : Road reopens, people return to homes after Madison County crash on Monday, 29th August, 2016
A road in Madison County has reopened after it was closed for more than four hours this afternoon because of a potential hazardous spill during a crash between a car and a tanker-truck.
A closer examination of the tanker that was thought to be spilling a hazardous material found that only water was leaking, according to the Pleasant Valley Joint Fire District.
Some nearby houses also were evacuated around the intersection of Route 42 near Price Hilliards Road, about 7 miles north of I-70. Those residents have since returned home.
The crash occurred just before 3 p.m. There were no details about injuries in the crash, though at least one person was taken to OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Injuries reportedly weren't life-threatening.
The Ohio Department of Transportation closed Route 42 between Kilbury-Huber and MV High roads.
Tolles Career and Technical Center and Canaan Middle School also closed early, though they both had been ending classes for the day and some students already were on buses.
