Highland Street, MA : Two people were injured in afternoon crash at Highland Street On Monday, July 11th, 2016
A motorcycle rider was seriously hurt and a woman was taken to the hospital after a crash Monday afternoon on Highland Street.
According to police, the motorcycle rider, a 24-year-old Spencer man, suffered a serious leg injury and was taken to a local hospital with injuries that police said were not life-threatening.
The police Crash Reconstruction Unit spent more than an hour investigating the crash, which occurred about 5:15 p.m. between Elm Park and the Price Chopper parking lot. Police said a preliminary investigation determined
the motorcycle was traveling west on Highland Street when the woman in the car was pulling out of the parking lot. The two vehicles collided in the westbound lane.
Several people in the park said they heard the crash and walked over to see the rider on the hood of the car. They said the rider did not appear conscious, and said the woman, who appeared to be the only person in the
compact sedan, was also put in an ambulance. Police said the 68-year-old woman suffered a possible concussion and was also taken to a local hospital.
Highland Street from Russell Street to Park Avenue was closed while police investigated. No citations have been issued; the investigation is continuing, police said.
