Fresno, CA : Two people killed and several others injured after a crash near Cantua Creek in Fresno County on Friday, April 22, 2016

Two people were killed Friday afternoon when their SUV swerved off Interstate 5 in western Fresno County, California Highway Patrol Sgt. Matt Zulim said.

Zulim said the accident happened around 4:30 p.m. north of Derrick Avenue (Highway 33). Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the crash and if alcohol or drugs played a role. Zulim said it was not raining at the time of the crash.

Three other people were taken to the hospital for minor injuries. There was no immediate word on the identity of the people in the SUV.
