Christiana, DE : Two people injured in a head-on crash in Christiana on Monday night, April 11, 2016

Delaware State Police say alcohol is believed to be a factor in a head-on crash that injured two people, one critically.

The News Journal reports that the crash occurred Monday night along state Route 273.

Sgt. Richard Bratz says an eastbound pickup truck swerved into westbound traffic and hit a Nissan Altima head-on. Bratz says alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

New Castle County Paramedics spokeswoman Sgt. Abigail Haas says the driver of the Nissan, a 24-year-old man, was taken to Christiana Hospital in critical condition with internal injuries and injuries to the head and chest. Bratz says the passenger in the car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and the driver of the truck wasn't injured.

State police are investigating the crash.
