Sussex County, DE : 23-year-old Maryland man in critical condition in a crash on Fenwick Island on Sunday, May 15, 2016

A 23-year-old Maryland man is in critical condition following a crash May 15 on Fenwick Island.

Cody N. Becker was driving a 2005 Honda CBR1000 motorcycle at 10:27 p.m. northbound on Dukes Avenue when he tried to turn left and struck the front of a 2006 Honda Ridgeline driven by Timothy A. Munro, 38, of Selbyville, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

Becker was ejected from the motorcycle, and he landed in the intersection. The truck came to a controlled stop on the shoulder of Lighthouse Road, Fournier said.

Becker was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash; he was airlifted by Delaware State Police Aviation Troop 2 to Christiana Medical Center where he is currently listed in critical condition.

Munro was properly restrained and uninjured in the crash.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident and no charges have been filed. Lighthouse Road and Dukes Avenue were closed for about three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
