Tallahassee,FL: Part of car strikes Sanford home after splitting in deadly crash on September, Wednesday 27th 2017

two-vehicle crash in Sanford early Wednesday morning left one person dead and resulted in a car splitting in half after it struck a power pole, according to the Sanford Police Department.

At about midnight, a blue Mazda sedan was speeding northbound on Bay Avenue when the driver ran a stop sign, police spokeswoman Bianca Gillett said. The Mazda struck a vehicle traveling east on 7th Street, causing it to go airborne and hit a power pole, Gillett said.

The impact into the pole split the Mazda in two, with the back end flying over a fence and striking the side of a house. Its driver was ejected from the car and died on the scene, Gillett said.

The driver of the other vehicle was treated at Central Florida Regional Hospital and released.

No one at the house was injured, Gillett said.
