Seattle,WA : 5 hurt when van crashes into downtown Seattle building on December, Thursday 28th 2017
Five people were injured, including one critically, when a shuttle van jumped a curb and plowed through them on a downtown Seattle sidewalk before crashing into a Gap store in an apparent accident Thursday.
The crash occurred just before noon near the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Pine Street. Four pedestrians and the driver of the van were taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
A Harborview spokesperson said one of the injured pedestrians, a man in his 30s, was in critical condition and undergoing surgery, while the others -- a 52-year-old man, a 39-year-old woman and a 28-year-old woman -- were listed in serious condition.
The van's driver appeared to have lost consciousness due to a medical issue moments before the crash. He sustained minor injuries despite earlier police reports that he was not hurt.
Another patient initially reported as connected to the crash was, in fact, not involved, the Harborview spokesperson said.
