Lorain County, OH : Vermilion man dead following a vehicle-pedestrian crash in Amherst Township on Friday, April 22, 2016
A Vermilion man lost his life Friday, April 22 after being struck by a pick-up truck while walking along a road in Amherst Township, according to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Christopher Stoltz, 26, was walking west on the south side of Middle Ridge Road, west of West Ridge Road, around 8:36 p.m., the release said. The man who struck Stoltz was identified as Jeffrey Bardar, 54, of Lorain.
Bardar was driving east on Middle Ridge in a 2000 Ford F-250 pick-up truck when he collided with the pedestrian.
Stoltz was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain following the crash and was pronounced dead at 9:06 p.m. Bardar suffered no injuries, the release said.
Charges have yet to be filed and it is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were contributing factors in the wreck, the release said. The incident remains under investigation.
