Ridgefield,OR : An Oregon motorcyclist was killed in a crash on April, friday 21th 2017
An Oregon motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Interstate 5 in Ridgefield Friday morning.
Larry Delker, 67, of Canby, Ore., was driving a 2014 FHX motorcycle north on I-5 in the right lane when he slowed for traffic just after 11 a.m., according to Washington State Patrol.
A northbound 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee towing a boat on a trailer failed to slow for traffic and struck the motorcycle, troopers reported.
Delker was ejected and landed in the center lane, Trooper Will Finn said.
He was conscious and breathing when emergency personnel arrived, but died at the hospital a few hours later, Finn said.
Troopers said the crash was caused by inattention.
The driver of the Jeep, Richard Heitzenrader, 69, of Ridgefield, was not injured. He is cooperating with troopers, Finn said, and a drug recognition expert is working to evaluate if Heitzenrader was impaired at the time of the crash.
Charges in the case are pending and the investigation by state patrol is ongoing.
