Sacramento, CA : 1 dead in crash on Highway 14 on Wednesday, 21st September 2016
A collision on Highway 14 near Sand Canyon Road, involving a motorcyclist and at least two other vehicles, left a man dead Wednesday night, according to California Highway Patrol officials.
The accident occurred some time around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday on the southbound side of the highway, said CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos. When emergency crews arrived, they found several vehicles parked to the side and a man laying on the roadway.
The victim, believed to be 40 to 50 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene, Villalobos said. No one else was hurt, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department officials.
Emergency crews also found loose gravel on the freeway, forcing CHP officers to close the southbound lanes near Sand Canyon Road. Lanes were still closed as of 10:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Villalosbos said officers are unsure how the gravel got on the road.
The crash is under investigation.
