Elyria, OH : Two people were killed in a chain-reaction crash at SR 113 On Saturday, July 2nd, 2016
Two people are dead after a chain-reaction crash on SR 113 in Lorain County Saturday.
42-year old Matthew Glaze was driving a Chevrolet Suburban westbound on SR 113 when he hit a Chevrolet Cruze, driven by Lizette Valdez.
Valdez was in the left turn lane, stopped behind a van driven by Ronnie Thompson. Valdez’s vehicle was pushed into the back of Thompson’s vehicle.
Glaze and Valdez were both transported to local hospitals for their injuries.
Iris Candelario, a passenger in Valdez’s car, was transported but later succumbed to her injuries, police said.
Another passenger in Valdez’s car, 58-year-old Maria Maldonado, died at the scene from her injuries.
Thompson was treated on scene.
Thompson, Valdez, Maldonado and Candelario were all using seatbelts at the time of the crash. Glaze was not wearing a seatbelt.
Drug use is suspected in this crash, and the investigation is ongoing.
