Big Island authorities are seeking two suspects involved in a vehicle crash that injured a police officer Monday morning.

At around 12:40 a.m., officers tried to make a traffic stop on a sedan on Kanoelehua Avenue, but the driver of the sedan failed to stop and drove away.

Officers located the car a few minutes later in a parking lot off Lihiwai Street, but as they approached the sedan, the driver attempted to flee and collided with a police vehicle. Two male occupants then fled on foot.

One of the officers was treated at the Hilo Medical Center for substantial but non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been released.
