Authorities say a 27-year-old man has died after he was hit by a vehicle while walking on an Albany-area road. Police in the Rensselaer County town of East Greenbush tell local media they were called to a stretch of the Columbia Turnpike around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday for a report of an accident. Police say when officers arrived, they found Timothy Bishop of East Greenbush lying in the road. He was taken to Albany Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled for later today. The driver of the car told investigators that he was driving east when a person appeared in the road in front of him and was struck by the vehicle.
