Terre Haute, IN : An Edgar County man died in a one-car crash on April, Monday 17th 2017

An Edgar County man died in a one-car crash Monday morning on Illinois 49 in Champaign County.

Randy G. Leeman, 55, of Paris, Illinois, was airlifted to an area hospital where he later died.

A passenger in his 2001 Chevrolet Malibu — 22-year-old Blake A. Wester of Marshall, Illinois — was seriously injured and hospitalized.

Illinois State Police said Leeman was driving north about 8:50 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve and went off the right side of the road. The car struck a ditch and became airborne, overturning multiple times before landing upright in a ditch.

The crash remains under investigation.

Police said seat belts were not worn.
