MAXWELL, VA : One dies in fatal two-vehicle crash involving logging truck in Tazewell on Monday, 17th October 2016

A fatal crash was reported Monday evening on U.S. Route 460 near Gray Bell Drive in Tazewell County.

The two-vehicle wreck occurred approximately 6:45 p.m., according to a dispatcher with the Virginia State Police detachment in Wytheville,Va. One person died in the crash. It was in the vicinity of the Maxwell community.

Additional details were not yet available pending the notification of next of kin, the dispatcher said.

Tazewell County Sheriff Brian Hieatt said the state police informed him that the crash involved a logging truck and another vehicle, and one male individual died. A Medflight helicopter was summoned, but the individual’s condition was too serious to fly him out of the area. The Virginia State Police was investigating.
