Seguin, TX : Two-vehicle crash sends man, woman to hospital on Saturday October 8 2016
A man and a woman were transported to nearby hospitals, police said, after being involved in a two-car collision just west of Seguin city limits.
The accident occurred about 5:45 p.m. Saturday evening at the intersection of FM 725 and U.S. 90 outside Seguin.
Seguin Police arrived on the scene to direct east and westbound U.S. 90 traffic as emergency crews worked to extract an injured male and female from a Nissan Sentra, which was in the front yard of a nearby home. The driver of the other vehicle, a silver Chevrolet Cavalier, was examined by EMS and later released.
According to Seguin police officer Jed Williams, the Cavalier was traveling southbound on FM 725 and the Sentra was traveling eastbound on U.S. 90 when the two collided.
“The vehicle going southbound hit the (other) vehicle right at the driver’s door,” Williams said. “(The cavalier) pushed that one (the Sentra) into the grass.”
One of the two occupants of the Sentra was transported by a Methodist Air Care helicopter to a nearby hospital, while the other person was taken by ambulance.
Police did not release the names or ages of any of the individuals involved in Saturday’s crash pending further investigation.
Williams said it appeared that one of the cars may have ran the light at the intersection of the two roads, Williams said.
“A witness said that one of the lights was possibly red but we don’t know,” he said. “We’re still investigating it. We don’t know who had the red light and who had the green light.”
The condition of the two occupants of the Sentra was unknown as of press time Saturday evening.
Northbound FM 725, between Interstate 10 and U.S. 90, was closed to through traffic while police and EMS cleared the scene, but reopened at about 6:45 p.m. Saturday.
