Hanover, PA : 11-year-old boy hit by car on East Chestnut Street in Hanover on Sunday, November 16, 2014
An 11-year-old pedestrian was transported to York Hospital on Nov. 16 after a car crashed into a Chestnut Street apartment building.
A 16-year-old male from Hagerstown, Maryland, lost control of a 2000 Ford Mustang turning onto E. Chestnut Street, according to a release from the Hanover Borough Police Department.
The car mounted the sidewalk on the north side of the roadway, struck the pedestrian and continued to travel through a fence and into the rear of a building on the 300 block of Chestnut Street, states the release.
The pedestrian, who police have not named, was transported with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. York Hospital representative Laura Place said the patient is in stable condition as of Nov. 17.
Property owner Richard Eiserman, of Hanover, said the mustang crashed into one of the six apartments in the building. Though there was a resident in the building at the time, no one was harmed, Eiserman said.
The car damaged the apartment's bathroom and back room, which was being used for storage, he said. He has begun working with insurance, but said he has not received an estimated cost of damage.
