Marion County, SC :Passenger killed in accident on Hwy. 501 in Marion County on Monday, July 13th 2015

A fatal accident on Highway 501 South in Marion County has been reported by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.The accident occurred Monday, July 13 about 3:15 p.m. on Highway 501 South at Reedy Creek Road, according to information posted online by SCHP.The accident involved 3 vehicles resulting in one fatality, according to Cpl Judd Jones.Jonathan Hemingway, 22 years old, from Marion was a passenger in a 1986 Ford 4-door vehicle, traveling north on US 501. According to SCHP, Hemingway is deceased.The driver of a 2015 Kia was traveling South on 501, the driver of the Ford lost control and went across the median and struck the Kia. The driver of the 2015 Kia and four other passengers were transferred to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.The third victim was driving a 2014 Kia traveling South on 501, the vehicle then struck the 2015 Kia. Non life threatening injuries have been reported.The collision remains under investigation.
