A woman was killed in a high-speed crash into a pole early Sunday morning in south Orange County, authorities said.
The 22-year-old woman, whose name was not released, lost control of her car around 3:55 a.m. at Orange Avenue and Town Center Boulevard. The car struck a light pole and was torn into pieces, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Richard Santiago, 21, of Kissimmee suffered serious injuries and was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.
One or both of the victims were trapped in the car and had to be extricated, according to Orange County Fire Rescue.
