Newark , NJ : 27- Years old man charged in hit-and-run accident that killed pedestrian on Sunday , January 18th 2015

An accused hit-and-run driver who allegedly killed a pedestrian has been charged with vehicular manslaughter.

Essex County prosecutors say 27-year-old Andy Soto, of Newark, is also charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and failure to render aid to an injured victim. His bail was set at $100,000 and it wasn't known if he's retained an attorney.

The accident occurred around 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the area of McCarter Highway and Market Street in Newark. Responding officers found 29-year-old Khendrai Williams, of East Orange, who was seriously injured.

He was taken to a hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later.

State police troopers soon located the suspect vehicle on a street near the Passaic River in Newark. The subsequent investigation led to Soto's arrest.
