Erie County, PA : Woman was dead and another city woman seriously injured in a rollover crash on Sunday night September 7th 2014
An Allentown woman was killed and another city woman seriously injured in a rollover crash Sunday night in Erie County.
Passenger Elaine Wilt, 70, and driver Christine Walton, 51, were ejected from the car on Route 18 South in Platea and then pinned underneath it, Pennsylvania State Police said.
Wilt was pronounced dead at the scene and Walton was hospitalized following the crash and remained at UPMC Hamot today.
The women were not wearing their seat belts, police said.
Troopers said Walton entered a curve and she lost control of the 2006 Chevrolet Malibu; the car skidded and then rolled several times, police said. The car stopped right side up, but Walton's legs were pinned under the passenger side and Wilt was beneath the car, police said.
A driver passing on Route 18 North called 911, police said.
