A Michigan man was killed in a one-vehicle crash in Williams County Monday afternoon.

Killed was William Dunning, 29, Hillsdale, a passenger in a vehicle driven by Scottie Eagle, 38, Hillsdale.

Eagle was listed in serious condition at Mercy St. Vincent Hospital, Toledo.

According to troopers of the Ohio Highway Patrol, at 3:50 p.m. near Pioneer, Eagle was northbound on County Road 15 when the vehicle struck a ditch and rolled several times, coming to rest in a field.

Troopers reported that Eagle was wearing a safety belt, while Dunning was not. Eagle was transported from the scene by air ambulance to the Toledo hospital. Dunning died at the scene.

Assisting at the scene were Williams County EMS, Kunkle and Madison township fire departments and the Williams County Coroner’s Office.

Damage was heavy to the vehicle. The accident remains under investigation.
