Pacifica, CA : One dead in fiery crash on Skyline Boulevard on Wednesday, January 7, 2015

One person was killed early Wednesday when a car hit a pole off State Route 35 in Pacifica and burst into flames, officials said.

The victim was found dead in the driver's seat about 3:55 a.m. by emergency crews responding to the fiery crash on Skyline Boulevard near King Drive, Pacifica police Capt. Joe Spanheimer said. The person's age and gender could not immediately be determined.

Pacifica police officials, along with crews from the North County Fire Authority and South San Francisco and Daly City police departments, found the car engulfed in flames and discovered the body after extinguishing the flames, Spanheimer said.

While the cause has not yet been determined, investigators believe the driver was headed northbound on Skyline when the car crossed the double yellow lines and crashed into a pole.

No other cars were involved in the crash, and no passengers were in the car, Spanheimer said.

The stretch of Skyline Boulevard between King and Manor Drives reopened at noon Wednesday
