Road rage accident killed two young men on San Pedro near Basse Road

A road rage accident killed two young men on San Pedro near Basse Road just after 1 p.m. Friday. "I think it's pretty stupid," said Rene Castro, a witness.

"I think it's pretty dumb you know -- somebody cuts you off.. get over it." Police say Valerio Perez, 19, and Isidro Cuellar, 19, who were both inside a silver Acura, died when their car slammed head-on into a Chevy truck. Minutes before this crash, witnesses say they saw a man in the Acura hanging outside the back passenger window, yelling at someone inside a Crown Victoria while the two cars were heading northbound on San Pedro.

Fernando Hernandez was another witness to the crash and said he saw one of the victims being thrown from the Acura. "His body actually slammed into the truck, tossed him out of window," Hernandez said. Before the fatal crash happened, the passenger reported to be hanging out of the Acura fell onto the ground. Hernandez said he saw the driver stop to pick up his passenger in the street and sped off southbound on San Pedro.

Witnesses say the Acura somehow lost control and then slammed into the black truck. The car was believed to be traveling at a high rate of speed, police said. The driver of the truck suffered a broken leg but is expected to be OK. Police are searching for a late model Crown Victoria with front end damage.
