Van Etten, NY : Southern Tier woman died after thrown from motorcycle in the Chemung County village of Van Etten on Saturday afternoon, June 25, 2016

New York State Police say a Southern Tier woman is dead after she was thrown from a motorcycle.

Troopers say they responded to the scene of the accident Saturday afternoon in the Chemung (shuh-MUNG’) County village of Van Etten.

Police say 55-year-old Daryl Dibble of Van Etten was driving the motorcycle and had been going around a curve when a pickup truck towing a hay baler entered the roadway.

Police say Dibble made an evasive maneuver, causing his 52-year-old passenger, Diane Dibble, to be thrown from the motorcycle. She died at the scene.

Daryl Dibble was taken to the hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania.

An investigation is underway.
