An investigation is underway in Gaston County after emergency officials say an elderly woman was struck and killed by a dump truck Monday morning.
Gaston County EMS says the woman, later identified as 79-year-old Betty Braswell Still, was hit along Sellerstown Road in Cherryville around 10:30 a.m.
Police say the truck, which belongs to Kerns Trucking out of Grover, was in the process of delivering gravel to Still's property. They say that during that process, Still was accidentally struck by the dump truck.
Still was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No charges have been been filed, but police say the investigation is ongoing.
The investigation is being carried out by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
